overcast

Overcast day in Laguna Beach

Hello! It's been so long since my last post. My husband and I took a mini break this weekend and flew out to Orange County to see my childhood friend's new baby. It seems like everybody around us is having babies!!! We're slowly becoming the only childless couple around. I'm still so not ready despite the serious bout of baby fever I've been experiencing for the past few months. I'm thinking it's a phase, or maybe, just maybe, I'm getting to that age where I'm biologically wired to start wanting one. Yikes.

On a less overwhelming note, I want to make cakepops. I've never attempted them, but I've always wanted to. I saw them at Starbucks the other day and thought, I could make that myself!

ghost town pt. 3

These are the last of my ghost town photos. All but one turned out a bit underexposed. :( I need to get more Fuji pack film, maybe more b&w this time...

I can't believe the weekend's over already. I have a love/hate relationship with Sundays. Hope everyone has a good week.

ghost town pt.1

We decided to drive out to Nelson to go to the Techatticup Mine ghost town. This is where we took our engagement photos, and we haven't been back since then. I've always been a sucker for historical artifacts. Living in Las Vegas, it's hard to find things of significant historical value since this town has a tendency to implode buildings and replace the old with the new. It was recently announced that they're closing the Sahara Hotel & Casino. So, anytime I can be amidst old places and things, I always enjoy it. I guess you could call me a nostalgic person. Very much so.

Being in the middle of nowhere between Vegas and Searchlight is as much of a retreat as we have time for these days, but it was still fun. I love taking photos of the old trucks, vintage signs and beautiful mountains.

More pics to come later! Have a good week.

things lately...

Taken during a recent detour into the Arts District downtown.

Things as of late:

-Just started a new position in a new department in my company, which I'm proud to say, I've been with for five years this month. It's amazing how fast time flies...I think back to five years ago and how different things were.

-Starting to think about where I want to go for my birthday this year...preferably somewhere with better weather than Vegas in the summer. I'm thinking my contenders are : Portland, Austin (which may be too humid!), or San Diego. I've been in dire need of a vacation for a long time.

-Obsessed with A.P.C.'s S/S 2011 line! I'm gushing over the Western Top, Sailor Collar Dress, and Flared Skirt.

-I must have this Kate Spade tote! It's the cutest thing everrrrr.

-I've been looking for a pair of oxford ballerina flats for some time, and these are pure perfection.

...some more halloween fun

More pics from Halloween weekend. Used up the last of my PX600 film; it finally decided to cooperate with me!

The birthday boy caught a little flu earlier this weekend, but thankfully got better just in time to celebrate.

I think I wore this pink wig to death. This is what happens when you procrastinate and don't think of a backup costume...I do wish I could wear it on a regular basis without people looking at me funny.  I kind of love it (obviously).

groggy saturday

It finally stops raining in Vegas...I finally got to take my Polaroid 250 Land Camera out for practice...Just to waste almost an entire box of film because it constantly got stuck in the camera, or was underexposed...
This was the best I could do for today. Blah. Hooray for blue skies I guess :)

I think I got the hang of it now. More to come soon.

I just woke up from an hour nap, but now I feel even more groggy than before. I'm feeling a bit disoriented. This is why I never take naps. Definitely need to head out the door before I fall back into my comfy, warm bed on an early Saturday night!!! Until next time...

still

Happy Thursday! (luckily, it's my Friday!)
Just a quick pola (Impossible Project PX600- which is still coming out so red...sigh.) of my new toy: Polaroid 250 Land Camera. -- I couldn't believe how great of a condition it was in (eBay!). My film just came in from Amazon, so I'm gonna take it for a spin this weekend.

10 October 2010

first flush

Second attempt at the first flush PX 600 Silver Shade, but I made the mistake of taking these photos when it's still pretty hot out, plus I think this pack was subjected to a lot of heat during shipping. So as you can see, they turned out reddish and dark... Hoping I have better luck with the newer version of the 600 film...whenever I have money to get more. This is a very expensive habit. It's a lot of trial and error...

24 September 2010

haze

I was hoping my very expired Polaroid 600 color film still had some life to it, but I guessed wrong. Every picture I took was hazy and washed out. Although I do enjoy the dream-like quality...like a mirage or something.

I still have plenty of film to develop...I've just been too lazy and busy..more the latter. We have to go car shopping this weekend, and I am absolutely NOT thrilled about it. I wish I lived in a place with decent public transportation so I never have to make a car payment, registration payment, etc. ever again.

On a more positive note, I'm going to yoga tonight! It'll be really nice to just slow down and get back into balance with myself again. Baby steps...

Have a great weekend everyone.

waimanalo at sunrise

I took this polaroid the day before our wedding day. Waimanalo has the most beautiful sunrise, words and photos just can't do them any justice.

Hanalei Valley and Waimea Canyon.

lighthouse

I love finding photos that I've long forgotten about. This particular polaroid was from when we took a drive up to the North Shore during the beginning of our honeymoon. The Hanalei bridge was closed for awhile because of the insane thunderstorms the first couple of days we were there. The grey skies made the coast so eerily beautiful.

portroids

THIS is coolest shit. Why can't I:
a) meet this many celebrities, and b) have so much polaroid film at my disposal??
(i would happily settle for b.)
